COME TO STUDY TO BARCELONA

YOU MUST COME TO STUDY TO BARCELONA
There are so many reasons I have been telling to lot of friend to convince them to come to study to my city.
First of all I’m going to talk about the quality of the universities. You have a huge choice of universities and schools and kind of formation institutions to study whatever you want. In Barcelona there is three big important universities where you can find all kind of studies. In one of them there is most of the best school for Bussiness and Managements, Advertising and Public Relations, Engineering, Design, etc.
Second one, Barcelona is such an attractive city for students. The weather is awesome. You are between the sea and the mountains, and at 30 minutes far away you can be in one of the most chilly and trendy beach villages. At the same thime in 2 hours you can be in differents ski station or in beautiful mountains for walking around. At the same time travelling around Barcelona is a must thing to do.
Third one, people who live in Barcelona tend to be a very cosmopolitan population more young than old. In this city you can find people from all over the world, most of them are students, that justifies why I advice you to come to Barcelona, and people from the city as well enjoy living there.
Fourth one, Barcelona because of his cosmopolitan style became a city where it’s difficult to be bored in. There are a huge amount of activities to do at any time. Since the best exhibitions ,which are going around the world, until the best music festivals. At the same time we are very traditional and we enjoy celebrating our specials days as 23th of Apri, 23th of June and 24th of septembre. As well you can enjoy the way we celebrate the common parties as Halloween or Christmas.
If there is a problem there and as well this reason is the main problem that people decide finally not to come to Barcelona is because of the catalan language. As you know Barcelona is the capital of a big and important area in Spain called Catalonia. There we speak spanich but we speak a second language as well which is the catalan. The problem is that for long time ago all the politicians and institucional people in Catalonia wants Catalan as the official language, and some universities take the Catalan language as the official language. But as I always said to my friend who are hesitating to come to Barcelona, do not take the Catalan the reason for not to come to this city. This city can offer more and more important and awesome things that the catalan appears as nothing between all this choices and good points to come to Barcelona.

I love Hackney

I focused my presentation about the borough where I’ve been living since I arrived to London. This borough is located on the north east of London, it is called Hackney. On this borough there is different town, some of them more famous and well-known than the others one. Hackney Central, Shoreditch, Dalston, Stoke Newington, Clapton and Stamford Hill are most of the towns at borough of Hackney.
The borough was formed on 1965 during the post-war. Before that Hackney was composed only by Hackney, Shoreditch and Stoke Newington. At that time these towns had a rich story because during the Tudor Period most of the people were living there. But it was after the II World War when these towns started to grow up and became a big borough called Borough of Hackney. During the post war lot of buildings were build up either factory and different kinds of industries. These towns, which were having a rich background, have been turning into residential towns and towns were immigrants came for starting a new life in London.
Nowadays the population on the borough is 212 200 and is ethnically diverse. We find 44% of white british, 15% ethnic groups, 9,4% asian and asian british, 4% mixed and 3% east asia. About religions we find 44% Christian, 18% muslim, 4% jewish, 3% other religions and 31% without any religion. We can talk about a melting pot at this borough.
I’m going to explain more about some of the towns at the borough.
I’m going to start with Shoreditch. This town is located just at the north of City of London. Since the 90’s this town became a popular, bohemian, fashion, creative area. We can find lots of art galleries, boutiques, street markets, etc. and by night there is a huge variety of restaurants with food from all over the world either as fashion restaurants, and bars and nightclubs at the known Old Street, Kingsland Street , Curtain Road, and Shoreditch High Street.
Hackney, Hackney Central is the central town of this borough. It’s known because of Hackney Empire, which was a very famous theatre and where nowadays you can still going for spectacles and theatre representations.
Dalston is known for all the immigrants from the Carribbean who came for living there. Ridley Road Market is the famous market there. Dalston is a very common scenario for the soap opera EastEnders which takes place most of the time in this borough.
Stoke Newington is known nowadays because of Church Street. My favourite street in London where anyone can find somewhere to eat, bars, pubs and lots of interesting boutiques and vintage clothes. On sunday you can enjoy your morning there with young people and young families, and you can visit the Farmers Market.
Stamford Hill

Do you want to be famous

Do you want to be famous?
Most of the people who aren’t famous want to be famous but they just need 5 minutes to thing about it to change their mind about this subject.

Being famous could be good for me if I want to do something that I’m really interested about. For example if I was famous I could set up a company, for example a restaurant. For sure this restaurant is going to be known very quickly for anyone and my business will go on well for sure. Or how about someone who is famous and wants to be president of his country.
But how about the famous side of paparazzi, private life, public eye, etc. Being famous you have the opportunity to make and do whatever you want but on the other hand you stop to have a private life. Everyone in the world is going to know about your life. Despite of this at the beginning of your popularity maybe you won’t be mind and you will cope with all these disturbing things as see your face on the magazines but after some time, some years being on the public eye maybe you won’t deal with that anymore. And let me talk about the huge amount of famous people who killed themselves because of this. Elvis Presley turned into a drug addict; Marilyn Monroe was the same, Britney Spears and finally Michael Jackson. There are lot of people who doesn’t thing like me in this subject but as I have a background in communication I can say how medias could destroy people or could change whatever they want.
Even though popularity some time can help you in lot of things I don’t know if I will change my private life for that.
Famous people are usually rich. Being rich or better said, having enough money, it’s often important because money means security at the same time in the world where we lived.

Anyway we can be rich without being famous.
At the same time I remark a difference between famous people. There is famous people you became famous because of something with value and this kind of people called “People” who are just famous because they had been married with someone famous or because they appears in foolish TV programs, etc. What I want to say is that sometime could be interesting to be famous but we have to know how to become famous and not to do that with a stupid and silly and banal things, we must be clever, original, unique, kind.

Getting wetty

I was travelling around the north of Vietnam and this happened to me when I was in the train from Hanoi to Sapa. We were just my friend and I, as a foreign people (or phalang as they called us there), and just Vietnamese people who doesn’t speak English at all. We found our places and tried to sit in a comfortable way but it was impossible. We had hard seats made by wood and too little one for us. In front of us there was two guys.

After two or three hours, we couldn’t sleep. It was cold and uncomfortable, we tried to sit in lot of ways but we couldn’t still sleep. Then a woman comes between the passengers, she was selling tea and we decided that maybe with a hot tea we could sleep easily. We took a cup of tea and the two others in front of us did the same. Because of the tea was too hot we couldn’t drink it immediately. The guy in front of me drank and the funniest thing of the story is the big mishap he did. He just burned his tongue and because of the hard sensation he just threw the tea from his mouth and splashed me in all over my face. My friend and I’d been laughing and the poor guy was too embarrassed about what he did. After laughing our heads off we tried to convince him that it was ok, it was just funny and there were no worries about it.

Where am I from?

I was born the 14th march 1987 in Barcelona. Every 14th march my mom always told me how the situation was at the hospital this day (as all the mums I guess). I wasn’t a calm baby I thought. I moved all the time and try to speak with everybody. At four years old my parents decided to put me in a French school. And I was there until my 18 years old. The first trouble in school is when everybody was started to read and I couldn’t do the same. My parents were embarrassed and they didn’t know what to do. Finally I learnt with a very funny book about a crocodile who travelled to New York. After that I never been a very good student, always chatting with others student, always trying to do thing to have fun in class, never very concentrated in my work. My poor parents had to visit my school many times because my teachers asked them to come. And then I passed my Baccalauréat and I was free from this very strict French school.

Last September I was graduated on Advertising and Public Relations. I’m very interested and happy about the studies I’ve been done. At the beginning I knew that I wanted to do some creative studies but I didn’t know what. And at the same time the communication sciences really interested me. Finally I found the advertising as a kind of a “creative way” to explore and to be interested in. Finally, I found lot of interesting things in this kind of science and now I’m lost. I don’t know if focus my career in a creative way or to work for the advertising plannification, or to work as a journalist, etc. I’m really lost. I had few working experiences in that as internships during my university years. But as all the students all over the world, or many of them, I am lost on my future career. Finally I decided to take this year for improving my English skills and maybe pass a Cambridge examination at the end. And here I am.

At the same time as we could imagine because of what I said before, the English language is going to be very important in my career, it’s a very good choice to spent some time doing that. I’m a girl who can never be in the same place for long time. Now I finished university and one of the things, which makes me feel over the moon it’s my freedom for going wherever I want and for deciding my future. For the moment my plans will happen in London until august at least. I’m going to take English courses until June and I would like to find a job in a shop or bar or coffee, whatever, to earn and save some money (yes, it’s difficult to save it in London!). At the same time it’s important if I can move around this communication creative etc world, London seems to be the city in Europe where the opportunities are.

And after that I have some plans between find a job and travel. I know that both are possible!

A little bit more about me. Travelling is one of the best pleasures in life. Tourists went on holidays while travellers did something else, they travelled; Alex Garland, The Beach. Playing an instrument, I play the piano since I was very child and now because of I’m moving all the time I can’t and that’s why I’m learning guitar and harmonica (I’m horrible playing harmonica and have to be patient with my guitar but I try!). Skiing is my favourite sport, and I become very sad when I couldn’t go to ski, like maybe this year because my wrist is broken (yes, you know you see me every day moving my wrist as nothing is happening but it’s broke and I have possibly need a chirurgic help). Watching French movies, I’m able to watch a French movie three times in a same day. Following the best American series, Lost, I’m waiting for the last season, which is going to start the 23th of this month. Saving a piece of this world contributing in a project, creating a documentary or whatever is also one of my hobbies project for the future years. If you want to join me, go ahead! Writing, I love writing, to write about my days, my experiences, to describe what’s happening around me, etc. Photography is my new hobby, I was saving money to get a camera and I got it for the last Christmas. And finally I don’t know why but I always spent money buying magazines, I love magazines, all kind of magazines.

And the things I forgot you will know it during this time that we are going to spend together and really enjoy it I hope!
